Friends since childhood, Björgvin Björgvinsson and Jóhann Haukur Hafstein founded Viking Heliskiing in 2013. They are both former alpine skiing Olympians who have competed at the highest level worldwide. Björgvin and Jóhann, along with our team of guides, have a deep understanding and knowledge of the Troll Peninsula, our main playground. They lead our guests to the finest terrain while prioritizing the safety of all participants above all else. The Troll Peninsula is the ideal place for skiers/snowboarders, with numerous slopes awaiting their first descent.
We are proud to announce the soft opening of Höfði, our newest heliskiing accommodation, will be unveiled very soon. Björgvin and Jóhann have had the dream of bringing this unique and luxurious adventure resort to life for years, and now it’s becoming a reality.
Höfði is a 5,500 square meter building, located in the Northeastern Region of Iceland. The opening marks the beginning of a new chapter for Viking Heliskiing.

We are driven by a passion for heliskiing and a commitment to delivering an unparalleled adventure for our guests. This has allowed us to form connections that extend beyond the mountains. Many of our guests return year after year and have become cherished friends.
Not only do we provide a vast skiing area spanning 5,000 square kilometers, but we also claim the title of having the largest private skiing area of all the heliskiing operations in Iceland, including the areas where you can ski from mountain summits down to the sea. We have exclusive agreements with landowners around the Troll Peninsula and the municipality of Grýtubakkahreppur. Grýtubakkahreppur sits on the opposite shore of the fjord, across from Siglufjörður. Our exclusive area is approximately 500 square km and offers our guests the opportunity to ski some of the finest ocean runs in Iceland without interacting with other operations.
We provide excellent accommodation for our guests in Sigló Hotel where you can relax in comfort. It reflects its excellence in the nearly perfect scores it receives on TripAdvisor and its 9.5 rating on Booking.com. When you leave the capital area of Iceland, you can expect rustic accommodation, but Hotel Sigló is a notable exception. It is a stylish, quality boutique hotel, known for its cozy and relaxing atmosphere. Stunning ocean and mountain views surround the hotel. You can enjoy the bar, fireplace, hot tub, and sauna, all while savoring the stunning ocean view.
In case of inclement weather, we offer a variety of adventures and experiences. From whale watching to sea angling to riding iconic Icelandic horses, to swimming in natural hot springs. Iceland’s natural wonders surround us, and we never run out of things to experience.
